Samsung GalaxyS N HTC Desire..

October 1st, 2010

In my todays’ review i would talk about the comparison between the two new phones which have entered the world cellphone markets.

samsung galaxy s international 300x238 Samsung GalaxyS N HTC Desire.. THE SAMSUNG GALAXY S

htc desire 540x334 300x185 Samsung GalaxyS N HTC Desire.. HTC DESIRE

The Samsung Galaxy S and HTC Desire are ones from the best Android based phones in the markets today. Many buyers always get confused on what to choose when its these 2 phones side-by-side. Both are powered with the AMOLED screen which stand a step ahead of any other mobile in terms of the display and touch interface.

  • Design

The Samsung Galaxy S is lighter and bigger in every way, when compared to the HTC Desire. It is longer, wider and thinner and more plastic that gives it a very light feel and appearance. The Galaxy weighs less by 16 gms than the Desire. Both have the similar curvy body, but the keys in the bottom are press-to-work in Desire, while in the Galaxy, only the home key need to be pressed.

  • Display

The screen size of Galaxy beats the Desire, by being 4-inch wide when compared to 3.7-inch Desire. The screen resolution of both is 800 x 600 pixels, and possess the same features like being scratch resistant, 16M color display, and multi-touch interface. However, HTC Desire has got a optical trackpad for navigation, which Galaxy doesn’t but Galaxy has a Swype text input feature which is more a geeky one than any good use. But the multitouch in Desire is not very appreciable, and its good at the dual touch features like pinch-and-zoom etc.

  • Memory

Both the Galaxy and Desire can expand their memory to 32GB. The call and message memory is unlimited for both.

Finally, So which do you buy ?

The price being nearly the same, I would suggest people to buy the phone depending on their requirements. The Samsung Galaxy S is better in terms of connectivity through EDGE, Bluetooth etc. and the front facing camera. The battery life too is better in Galaxy. But if you want a camera with a flash light, and would want to incline the phone for more a business purpose and have better emailing and better widget management, HTC Desire is the choice. It also has a few additional gaming and entertainment options.

But at this point, if you want the GPS to be functioning well and to have the latest version of Android already, go with HTC Desire.

News: Chinese built of HTC Magic that runs on Windows Mobile

July 29th, 2009

Ever seen a HTC Magic running on Windows Mobile? Well! That’s really possible with so many genious modders around. This time its not the XDA developers rather its the chinese innovators.

www.m8kool.com is a chinese portal that sells very authentic fakes of almost all the available mobile phones in the market at a very cheap rate that is almost half or even lesser price of the original.

This website lately featured a clone of HTC Magic that runs on a Windows Mobile 6.1 OS. It runs on a Huawei Microprocessor. The HTC Magic clone is also available at a lesser price if you buy the one without the Windows Mobile OS. The phone also features a Vodafone logo at the back LOL!!!

One of the best things that i have always liked about these chinese clones is the capability of the devices. Who on this earth sells a triple sim mobile with an inbuilt TV ? I wonder if giants like HTC, Nokia, LG, etc can beat that.

There is a new evidence to support the existence of the new model from HTC, the HTC Firestone. The picture above shows the latest leaked render for Firestone. It is also rumored that the HTC Firestone is supposed to be a more media centric device rather than a business phone. It also has speakers in the front and back to support good audio output. It will also have a hot-swappable microsd card. This is actually a kind of required capability when you call a device a media device where the user may require to easily handle the memory card to load more media without having much pain of restarting the device again and again.

News: What’s coming next after HTC Sense ?

July 23rd, 2009

brewmp logo horiz News: Whats coming next after HTC Sense ?Here is the answer to the question, HTC is now gearing up with its new 3G mobile handset to be based on the Qualcomm’s Brew Mobile Platform (BMP). This handset is an entry level handset which will be released in September or October. Like other latest handsets and the ongoing trend in the market, this BMP based handset too will be a touch enabled one.

By now you must be wondering what is this Brew Mobile Platform ?

Well! Brew Mobile Platform is another mobile OS developed by QualComm. Brew stands for “Binary Runtime Environment for Wireless”. It was originally developed for CDMA handsets. This is an open source project just like Android and freely available. Brew Mobile Platform is still developing and one of its advantages is better performance as it lowers the RAM overhead in mobile phones. So you can have a more appealing and functional OS on a lower RAM which in turn influences the pricing of the device. One of the other usage specific advantages is that you can run the BREW applications directly from your memory card and is in no way linked to your phone memory which means your can swap mobile phones without having to reinstall applications.

Let us wait and see what HTC is planning to innovate with a view to surprise us again, just like HTC Sense. However, one thing for sure we know, is that, this new development will surely give HTC more edge on to its other rivals

opera95b01 Update: Opera 9.7 Beta is launched for Windows Mobile

This is an update to a previous Opera post where we reviewed the Opera 9.5. The new Opera 9.7 Beta is available for Windows Mobile now. The new beta release offers widgets apart from a better speed and performance. Speed is one of its highlighted features because of the latest technology implementation called Opera Turbo.

Opera Turbo is a really nice feature in the Opera browser. You set it to an automatic/on/off options. The automatic option enables the Turbo feature when your bandwidth goes low due to congestion or poor network. In such a case, the Turbo mechanism compresses the data and optimizes it by removing some of the irrelevant content from the web page being accessed. If you set it to “on” then the Turbo works all the time.

With the increasing popularity of widgets, Opera 9.7 comes with widgets manager and SDK. There are a few inbuilt widgets, namely,  GeoQuiz, Twitter, Bubbles, MyStatus and Google Translate. You can add widgets to the browser by visiting http://widgets.opera.com/ .
